Josh Reddick and Evan Gattis belted back-to-back fifth inning solo home runs as the Astros pounded out a 9-1 victory over the Tigers in Houston. Tyler White hit a two-run homer in the seventh. Gerrit Cole worked into the sixth inning, allowing one run and three hits to earn his 10th victory. The Astros top the AL West with a 64-34 record. Michael Fulmer surrendered seven runs on 10 hits in less than five innings to take the loss. James McCann doubled home Nicholas Castellanos in the sixth for the Detroit run. The Tigers have lost six in a row.
