Former Baylor President Ken Starr Talks About Brett Kavanaugh

A Texan who knows Supreme Court Justice-Designate Brett Kennedy perhaps as well as anybody in the legal profession, former Baylor University President Kenneth Starr, tells News Radio 1200 WOAI Kavanaugh will make a tough target for Democrats to attack, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Kavanaugh was a lawyer on Starr's staff when, as U.S. Solicitor General in the late 1990s, he prepared the case for the impeachment of President Bill Clinton.

Starr says Kavanaugh has many qualities that will make him an ideal Supreme Court justice.

"Open mindedness, extremely hard work and a determination to find the right answer to an issue, or at least the best or the better answer to an issue," Starr recalled.  "Complete intellectual honesty and open-mindedness."

Starr says Kavanaugh has a quality that Democrats claim to prize, except when it is a quality possessed by somebody they are determined to defeat, and that is a commitment to 'hold the powerful accountable under the law.'

And Starr said Kavanaugh's personality will make him very difficult for the Democrats to paint with the brush of a brute who wants to subject women to back room illegal abortions and rip away family's health care benefits.

"What you'll see in Brett is, he is very even-tempered, and he does not fly off the handle," Starr says.  "He will handle the harshest kind of attacks with dignity and with restraint, and he will keep smiling, and I think people will end up falling in love with Brett Kavanaugh."
