Bexar Deputy Facing Child Sex Charge

The Bexar County Sheriffs Office confirms that one it its deputies was arrested early Sunday on felony charges involving the sexual assault of a child, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The deputy is identified as a detention officer at the county jail.  He has been identified as Jose  Nunez, 47.

Officials say the deputy repeatedly sexually assaulted a four year old girl and allegedly threatened the victims mother, who is an illegal immigrant, with deportation if she reported the crime.

Sheriff Javier Salazar says the mother finally reported the crime Saturday night.  He says the abuse may have been going on for several months.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing.  Salazar said there may be other victims of Nunez.
