Extra security measures were in place during the graduation ceremony at Santa Fe High School in Texas. Students wore white stoles over their graduation gowns and held a moment of silence for the eight students and two teachers who were shot and killed during a mass shooting on May 18th. A video tribute honoring the victims also played. The students were given carabiners to symbolize the strong bonds students formed after the tragedy. Students returned to the school last week for the first time since the shooting. The alleged suspect, 17-year-old Dimitrios Pagourtzis, was a student at the school and is being held on capital murder charges.
