Nelson Cruz and Kyle Seager hit back-to-back RBI singles in the sixth inning to lift the Mariners past the Rangers 2-1 in the first of a four-game series at Safeco Field. Marco Gonzales gave up just an unearned run over six-and-two-thirds innings to run his record to 5-and-3. Edwin Diaz closed it out for his 19th save. Seattle has won four straight and nine of its last 10 to improve to 33-and-20. Rougned Odor scored the lone Texas run on a passed ball in the third. Doug Fister yielded two runs in six frames to fall to 1-and-5 with the tough-luck loss.
