Man shot, killed after firing at officer on city's East Side

San Antonio Shooting

A man is dead after firing at a police officer who was responding to a call at a VIA bus stop Monday evening on the city's East Side.

Authorities were called to Iowa and South Pine streets at about 5:45 p.m. for reports of the man pointing a gun at people near a bus stop.

When a nearby officer arrived, he started honking at the suspect to get his attention. The suspect swiveled around, and began shooting at the 30-year SAPD officer in his car, and he returned fire.
