Police Search Combs SE Side Following Two Armed Robberies

Police early today managed to arrest one of four men who stuck up two stores on the city's east side overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The first robbery came in at a Stop and Go store in the 1900 block of Rigsby, where a man had walked in, jammed a gun into the face of a clerk, and demanded money.  He then ran out and jumped into an SUV with three other men.

About midnight a report came in of a similar robbery at the Valero store in the 1600 block of Goliad Road, and the description of the robber and the SUV were similar, and police broadcast a description of the vehicle.

An officer spotted it on Goliad Road and tried to stop it, but the driver sped away.

All ran in different directions.

A police helicopter was called in which swept the area with its spotlight, and managed to find one of the men.

He will be charged with aggravated robbery and evading arrest. The other three men remain at large.
