Two Jail Suicides Thwarted Overnight

Bexar County Sheriff's Office detention officers Saturday night managed to prevent two jail inmates from killing themselves, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

In the first incident, a 32 year old man who is facing charges of sexual assault of a child tried to hang himself inside his cell.  Guards immediately stepped in and called EMS, which managed to revive the inmate and rush him to the hosptial.

About an hour later, a 33 year old man who is being held on drug charges tried suicide. Once again, a detention officer discovered the man inside his cell and moved quickly to prevent the suicide attempt.

In the second case, the man was also rushed to the hospital.  Both are expected to survive to face their trials.

There is no indication that the two incidents were in any way related.
