Woman Hurt Jumping Off Balcony to Avoid Apartment Fire

A woman is hospitalized after she jumped off a second floor balcony in an attempt to get away from a fire in her northwest side apartment, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Fire companies said the flames were confined to one apartment at the Oak Hill Village Apartments at Babcock and Callaghan.

The woman who jumped was immediately rescued to firefighters and taken to the hospital.  She suffered a broken leg and other injuries.

The building where the fire was located was evacuated but crews isolated the fire itself to one apartment.  The fire is believed to have started in a living room couch.
