Police: Bicyclist Killed After Ignoring Stop Sign

A 40 year old man was killed overnight when he was run over by a car while riding his bike on the city's east side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say the bicyclist failed to stop at the stop sign at Hicks and South New Braunfels and rode right into the path of an oncoming car that had the right of way.

The 60 year old woman behind the wheel of the car didn't see the bicyclist on the darkened stretch of street and will not face charges.

Pedestrians and bicyclists getting hurt or killed on streets and highways has become an increasingly serious problem in San Antonio.

On Tuesday, a man was killed while he was walking down the main lanes of I-35 on the northeast side.  Earlier on Tuesday morning, two women were badly hurt when they attempted to run across busy streets in the dark and were hit by vehicles.
