Its up there.
The famous Night in Old San Antonio Rain Rock was hoisted over the grounds of La Villita today, to keep this beautiful weather going for the rest of Fiesta week, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
NIOSA Chair Magtie Arnold says the 'rain rock' tradition has been around since the seventies."Hang a rain rock to ward off the ominous clouds and the bad weather," she said.
Actually, the 'rain rock' tradition goes back further than that. Cowboys and Native Americans would hang a special rock on fences or on the sides of tree to put out a wish for good weather.
The rain rock hangs on the front porch of the NIOSA office in the southwest corner of La Villita, and will stay there all week.
The rain rock won't have to work that hard this Fiesta. The exceptional weather, with mild temperatures and no rain, is expected to stick around all week.
