James Paxton stuck out seven over six innings of three-hit, one-run ball as the Mariners took down the Astros 2-1 at Safeco Field. Nelson Cruz homered in the fourth inning to tie the game at one and Dee Gordon's RBI double in the sixth put Seattle ahead. Paxton evened his record at 1-and-1 and Edwin Diaz nailed down his seventh save. The M's have won five-of-six to improve to 9-and-5. Dallas Keuchel allowed six hits and two runs in a complete-game loss to fall to 0-and-3. George Springer homered in the first for Houston, which lost its third straight to fall to 10-and-7.
