Albert Pujols connected for his 616th career home run in the Angels' 8-3 win over the Rangers in Arlington. Los Angeles is off to its best start since 1987 at 8-and-3. Garrett Richards allowed one run while pitching into the fifth inning, but Jose Alvarez got the final two outs of the frame to get credit for the win. Joey Gallo had two hits and two RBI and Elvis Andrus homered for Texas. The Rangers fell to 4-and-8 by losing the opener of the three-game series. Starter Doug Fister was tagged with the loss, giving up three runs in five innings.
