Astros Shut Out Twins Behind Verlander

Justin Verlander and three relievers combined on a six-hitter as the Astros shut out the Twins 2-0 at Target Field. Verlander struck out nine  while allowing four hits and a walk in seven frames for his second win. Ken Giles got the final out for his first save. J.D. Davis had an RBI  single in the sixth and Marwin Gonzalez doubled home a run in the  eighth.  Houston has won three in-a-row and eight of its last nine  games. Lance Lynn threw five scoreless for Minnesota, with Taylor Rogers taking the loss. Jason Castro had two hits for the Twins, who fell to 4-and-4.
