The body of a man found on Thursday along Highway 281 was that of a man missing since January.
The Bexar County Medical Examiner has now confirmed the identity as 81-year old Pete Carreon.
The family of Carreon released a statement:
“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that we share the news on the passing of our Beloved Pete Paez Carreon. The Medical Examiner has confirmed his identity as the deceased located Thursday evening in South Bexar County. We would like to express our appreciation to all who contributed their time, efforts, and donations during our search for him these last 11 weeks. So many people in the community came forward to assist our Family in numerous efforts to locate him. Thank You to Family, Friends, Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Local News Media, and the many strangers who assisted us in these searches. As we prepare Pete's journey to his final resting place, we ask that you keep his Family and Friends in your Prayers during these difficult days. Funeral arrangements will be posted when they are finalized. With much Love, Respect, and Sincere Appreciation, Thank You!”
