Northwest Side Man Answers Knock at the Door, is Shot

A northwest side man is hospitalized after he was shot as he answered a knock at the door early today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say a man knocked at the door of a home on Gomer Pyle Street, which is near Wurzbach and Babcock just south of the Medical Center about 4AM.  When the resident of the home answered, he was hit by at least one blast from a shotgun.

The gunman jumped into a car and sped away, but police arrested a suspect nearby.

The shooting is alleged to have stemmed from an argument over a woman at a party at the house.

Don't expect the suspect to claim he can't afford a lawyer.  He made his getaway in a Mercedes.
