A security officer was shot and wounded by an 'irate customers' at a northwest side H-E-B store overnight, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the man entered the store at I-10 and Wurzbach and was 'acting in an irate manner.'
They say the security officer was taking the man, who officers say has a history of irate behavior, away from the store floor when he apparently grabbed the officer's gun and fired one shot. The guard was hit in the lower leg and is hospitalized with a wound which is not life threatening.
"One individual was taken into custody, he is also being treated for non-life threatening injuries," H-E-B's Julie Beningfield said.
Police arrived and took the man into custody, and he was also treated at a hospital for unspecified wounds that police said 'did not involve gunfire.'
The H-E-B serves the Medical Center area.
