The Final Four Weekend was not only fun and exciting, it was also very safe, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The San Antonio Police Department reported today that it arrested only five people and issued just 13 misdemeanor citations in the four days between Friday and Monday. That is fewer than are issued in many normal weekends.
This is on a weekend when 93,000 visitors mingled with tens of thousands of locals downtown.
Saturday and Monday, not surprisingly as those were the days of the games, saw the most misdemeanor citations.
Many patrons remarked about the safe atmosphere of the downtown despite all the activity, and the presence of friendly Final Four volunteers and uniformed police officers, which lent a calming touch to the festivities.
