Criticism of Driving Leads to Triple Shooting

San Antonio Police Chief Bill McManus says criticism of a pickup truck driver's erratic driving sparked a shooting in the parking lot of the Top Golf driving range on the northwest side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Three people were shot, and all of them are in critical condition.

McManus says an altercation began when a pickup drove though the parking lot wildly as people were walking back to their cars shortly after 10PM.

"Somebody said something about his driving," McManus said.

He says the driver of the pickup stopped the vehicle, jumped out, and an argument ensued.

At that point, the pickup driver started shooting wildly into the crowd of pedestrians.. Two people were shot in the back, and one was shot in the chest.. All three were rushed to hospitals with life threatening wounds.

"We believe they were arguing about the driving in the parking lot." McManus said.. "There were comments like 'slow down, dude'."

He said a total of ten people were in the parking lot at the time.. A truck matching the license plate of the pickup involved in the shooting has been stopped by police.

Top Golf is a prominent business at Loop 1604 and I-10, known for its tall tarps designed to stop golf balls from flying onto the nearby highway.
