The University of Maryland, Baltimore County is the first-ever 16-seed to beat a number-one seed in NCAA Tournament history. The Retrievers stunned top-overall seed Virginia 74-54 in first round action of the South Region in Charlotte. Entering this game, number-one seeds were 135-and-0 all-time since the field expanded to 64 teams in 1985. UMBC advances to face ninth-seeded Kansas State in the second round on Sunday.
