NFL free agents who want to continue their social justice protests by kneeling during the national anthem are unlikely to find a home in Houston. According to Fox News, the Houston Texans have very little interest in signing players who plan on taking a knee when the Star Spangled Banner is played.
The organization has no official policy or directive against signing players who protested, but two agents said the team is not interested in those players.
The Houston Texans denied to reports and released a statement calling the allegations "categorically false and without merit."
A recent report that suggests the Houston Texans would not sign a player who has protested in support of social justice issues is categorically false and without merit. The Texans ownership, coaching, personnel and executive staff sign and hire employees based on talent, character and fit within our organization
The other question is will those players want to play for the Texans in the first place? The team is still dealing with negative press after team owner Bob McNair complained about the protests last season saying "we can’t have the inmates running the prison."
McNair apologized for his comments, but many players did not believe it was sincere.
