The Texas Longhorns came up with a big game when they needed it and defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers 87-79 in overtime.
The win marked the fourth top-20 win for UT at the Erwin Center and the seventh overtime contest of the season, setting a single-season school record.
Four Longhorns scored in double-figures. Junior guard Kerwin Roach II and freshman guard Matt Coleman led Texas in scoring, both tying their career-highs with 22 points. Freshman forward Jericho Sims set a career-high with 17 points on 6-of-7 shooting, also adding a team-high eight rebounds. Junior guard Dylan Osetkowski rounded out the double-digit scoring with 15 for his 24th time scoring in double digits this season, connecting on five 3-pointers and adding eight rebounds.
The Longhorns will play Iowa State in the first round of the Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday night. Tipoff is set for 8:30 p.m.
