USAA Finalizing Plans to Move Tech Employees Downtown

USAA says it is ready to begin its long-planned move of hundreds of employees to a downtown office building USAA's real estate division purchased in 2013, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

USAA spokesman Matt Hartwig says 400 people who currently office at the USAA Tech Center on Farinon Drive, which is near I-10 and Dezavala, will be moved to One Riverwalk Place at 700 N. St. Mary's St, a 261,000 square foot office building at St. Mary's and Convent.

The USAA tech employees will occupy four floors of the building, and another 400 tech workers from the same northwest side location will move to the building as soon as renovations are complete and space is available.

"This reflects USAA's desire to be even more engaged with San Antonio's growing tech ecosystem as we seek to attract, develop, and retain the best possible employees to help serve our members today and in the future," Hartwig said.

USAA plans to locate 2,000 employees downtown, which is the home of Geekdom and much of the city's booming tech industry. USAA has more than 19,000 total employees in the San Antonio area.
