Man indicted for fatal shooting of a San Marcos police officer

Hays County District Attorney Wes Mau on Thursday reported a grand jury has indicted Stewart Mettz in the December fatal shooting of San Marcos police officer Ken Copeland.

Mettz is facing a capital murder charge, which is punishable by death or life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Copeland was serving a warrant at Mettz’s home in December, when according to police, Mettz began firing at officers and Copeland was struck several times. Police described it as an ambush situation.
