Southeast Side Home Invasion Leaves Homeowner Dead, Suspect Shot

One man is dead and another clinging to life after a violent home invasion on the city's southeast side early today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police say two men forced their way into a home in the 300 block of Regina, which is off Hackberry street.

Two men were inside at the time, a homeowner and a guest.

Police say one man held the guest at gunpoint while the other invader marched the homeowner into a back room.

That's when the guest heard several shots, and the man who was holding him at gunpoint quickly ran away.

When police arrived, they found the 40 year old homeowner dead, and the 32 year old robber clinging to life with a bullet wound to the neck.  He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

Police don't have much to go on, and the second suspect remains at large.  But officers say, like other cases of this type, this was not a random incident.
