America has its first gold medal at the Winter Olympics. Seventeen-year-old Red Gerard won gold in the men's snowboard slopestyle on Sunday. Gerard struggled on his first two runs, but made the last one count to secure the first gold of the Olympics for Team USA and the first medal overall. Canada's Max Parrot and Mark McMorris took home sliver and bronze respectively. Gerard can go for two golds when he competes in the Big Air contest on February 24th.
