A Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy was assaulted as he answered an alarm at a north side home, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The Deputy was answering a call for a family disturbance in the 21000 block of Pearl Harvest, which is off Bulverde Rd shortly after midnight this morning.
When the deputy walked inside the house, he was jumped from behind by a 30 year old man with a knife, who proceeded to stab the deputy multiple times in the neck and back.
Back-up arrived and managed to subdue the attacker, who also suffered cuts on his hands when he was handling the knife.
The Deputy was taken to University Hospital where he is listed in stable condition with wounds which are not life threatening.
The suspect will face charges of felony assault on a peace officer.
