Two San Antonio military members are switching their BDU's for prison blues after they were sentenced for attempting to have sex with what they thought was a 14 year old girl, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Federal prosecutors say Mark Pazmino, 30, a former soldier who is now assigned to Joint Base San Antonio National Security Agency, and Mark Hardin, 28, a Navy Corpsman assigned as a medical technician at BAMC, attempted to call, text, and message what they thought was a 14 year old girl and propositioned her for sex.
The person they were communicating with wasn't a 14 year old girl, she was a grown-up...a grown-up Air Force OSI undercover agent.
Both of the men pleaded guilty to criminal enticement of a minor charges, and both were sentenced to ten years in federal prison.
Federal prosecutors say both Pazmino and Hardin stated several times, in recorded phone calls, that they wanted to 'engage in sexual activity with the minor female,' and there was no doubt that the men were aware that she was underage.
The AFOSI, Naval Criminal Investigate Service, and FBI all conducted the investigation, as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to 'combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation.'
