UPDATE: SAPD Officer Shoots, Kills Suspect on Loop 410

UPDATE: SAPD Police Chief Bill McManus gave an update on the Officer involved shooting near North Star Mall where the suspect has died.

Shortly after 6:30 PM SAPD was called to the Target Store at North Star Mall for a robbery. The suspect, a mail in his early 20's,  stole a BMX bike form the store. That suspect was able to escape and ride the back onto Loop 410 with multiple police officers in pursuit.

Officers were able to stop the suspect on Loop 410. As officers approached, the suspect pulled a knife and was shot by an officer in the abdomen. He was pronounced dead at the scene. One officer sustained cuts to his hand and was transported to an area hospital.

6:46PM: San Antonio Police are on the scene of an officer involved shooting near North Star Mall, officials tell 1200 WOAI news.

It happened near Loop 410 and Rector.

Police Chief Bill McManus says it started at the Target store where the suspect stole bicycle.

Police followed the suspect as he drove onto Loop 410  on the stolen bike.  Three officers boxed in the suspect.

The suspect then pulled a 6 inch blade knife and slashed one of the officets.
