A 42 year old trucker was killed early Saturday when his 18 wheeler collided with another big rig on a south side road, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say Martin Huerta was driving an 18 wheeler filled with powdered cement to a construction site on Somerset Rd.
Huerta was northbound on Somerset when another big rig, this time hauling a flatbed trailer loaded with precast concrete slabs was traveling southbound.
The flatbed rig turned right into a construction entrance and had to swerve into the oncoming lane to complete the turn.
Due to the early morning fog, Huerta was unable to see the other truck until it was too late, and smashed into the flatbed trailer with his cab.
Huerta had to be cut out of the mangled trailer and was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
