Quit your complaining...San Antonio today has the lowest gas prices in Texas, and Texas has the lowest gas prices in the entire country, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Daniel Armbruster of AAA Texas says the average price today in San Antonio is $2.18 a gallon.
"$2.18 is the lowest in the state of Texas for a gallon of regular unleaded this week," he said.
And he says the statewide average price of $2.28 is also the lowest of any state in the USA.
"Texas drivers, relatively speaking, are saving money at the pump versus other drivers across the United States," he said.
For example, the U.S. average today is $2.54, and if you travel to the west coast, don't even think about it. Across the west coast, prices are generally over $3, and in San Francisco today, drivers are paying an average of $3.62.
A combination of low state taxes, limited environmental regulation, and proximity to oil fields like the Eagle Ford and Permian Basin, pipelines, refineries, and even oil company headquarters gives Texas an edge when it comes to price.
