Sleet, Freezing Rain 'Becoming More Likely' Monday Night, Tuesday Morning

Winter Storm Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for late Monday night through Tuesday for much of the area.

The forecast calls for a mix of freezing rain and sleet across the area of concern.

"Another strong, arctic cold front will move into Hill Country and Central Texas after midnight Monday night and through southern areas before sunrise Tuesday morning. Temperatures will plummet behind the front, falling by late Tuesday morning into the upper 20s to low 30s across the Hill Country and Central Texas and low to mid 30s elsewhere. A blustery north wind will make it feel like it's in the teens to mid 20s," The National Weather Service said in an advisory.

"Several models are currently indicating the potential for precipitation on Tuesday, behind the front. Any precipitation that does fall in the area of concern mentioned above will likely fall as freezing rain and/or sleet. There is still uncertainty in the forecast as we are still 3 days out, but begin contingency planning if you are in the area of concern. Please check back with our forecasts as they are likely to change and become more refined over the next few days."
