Tourists at the Alamo Hear Music of 1718

It truly was, in the words of Monty Python, 'something completely different' today at the Alamo, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Amid the din of tourists, raspa vendors and buses, a quartet from the Alamo Baroque Festival, and British tenor Paul Phoenix performing an aria from the early 18th Century French composer Michel de Monteclair.

The composer was active in 1718, when San Antonio was founded, and his music may have been heard in the San Antonio of the early years.

The Tricentennial Commission says there will be more 'pop up concerts' at the Alamo and elsewhere as the city's 300th birthday celebration proceeds.
