Houston police say a 29 year old Texas A&M sports reporter who was reported missing after covering an event on Saturday apparently had a reaction to some medication, and din't know she was the object of a citywide search, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say Courtney Roland, who writes for an on line publication called AggieYell.com, was not a victim of any foul play, even though she had texted her roommate Saturday night to say that she thought a pickup truck was following her.
"I'm thinking in her state of confusion, she kind of lost track of time," Houston Police Captain Mark Lentini said. "I don't think she even knew she was being looked at as a missing person."
Police say Roland was apparently looking for her phone, which was found in her Jeep that had been abandoned near the Galleria. She told one person she came into contact with that she was using her iPad to try to locate her phone.
Police say Roland was taken to a hospital after she was located today at a West Houston Chick Fil-A but does not appear to have been injured. A customer at the Chick Fil-A saw her and recognized her from news reports and called police. By the time officers arrived, she was sitting under a highway overpass nearby.
Lentini says after Roland was reported missing, it wasn't difficult to track her movements in the Galleria area.
"One of the things about the Galleria area, is there are a lot of cameras," he said. "There are a lot of cameras in the area. She had an interaction with an off duty officer prior to being reported missing."
Police wouldn't say exactly what medication Roland had a reaction to.
