Despite complaints about everyting from a lack of non stops to a shortage of flights, San Antonio International Airport continues to set passenger records, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The airport says 810,000 people either boarded or got off airplanes at SAT in November, a 9.3% increase from November of 2016, and the busiest November at the airport ever.
That makes the seventeenth consecutive month of passenger records at the airport.
“SAT is very close to exceeding our yearly passenger numbers and it’s imperative that we continue to work with airlines and make it our goal of attracting both business and leisure travelers to the region,” said Russ Handy, Aviation Director for the City of San Antonio.
Several factors are credited for the increase in passengers. The Airport has been very aggressive in attracting new airlines, with Air Canada and and Frontier making major additions in 2017.
The strong local economy is also a catalyst for both business and leisure travel.
When 2017 numbers are added up, up to 9 million passengers are expected to have passed through SAT over the year.
