San Antonio Zoo Names New Hippo

You know that song "I want a Hippopotamus for Christmas?"  1200 WOAI reports the San Antonio Zoo actually got one, and now they have named the two year old hippo 'Timothy.'

Zoo director Tim Morrow says an anonymous donor won the rights to name the hippo, after a good friend.

"We are thankful for donors who help us secure a future for wildlife," he said.  "As a non profit organization, we couldn't make major improvements without outside support."

The 1200 pound hippo now lives with his grandmother Uma in the Africa Live! exhibition at the Zoo.
