A driver is lucky to be alive after he was in a spectacular wreck on the north side early today, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the man in his twenties was driving far too fast down Loop 1604 about 1:30AM when he lost control of his car.It spun out of control on the bridge over Stone Oak Parkway, took out several guard rail posts, and then plunged forty feet to the pavement below, finally coming to rest against one of the bridge pillars.
The man had to be cut out of the mangled wreckage. Amazingly, he suffered only minor injuries, but will be tested for possible DWI.
Nobody on the ground was hurt, and the driver was alone in the car.
