A 39 year old man, described by police as hearing impaired, is spending Christmas Day in the hospital, after he was shot and wounded in a north side parking lot in what police say was a robbery, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The suspect, Sergio Hernandez, 23, was arrested due to the quick thinkin of a witness.
The witness heard a 'loud bang' in the parking lot at West and Basse, and then he saw a 39 year old man, Abel Gomez, fall to the ground.
The witness called 9-1-1 and the courageously followed the suspect as he attempted to run away, updating police on his location.
Hernandez was quickly arrested and charged with aggravated robbery.
Bond is set at $75,000.. The victim is hospitalized with non life threatening wounds.. Police didn't speculate on whether the man was shot because he is deaf, and didn't understand the gunman's demands.
