Man Arrested in November Murder of Three Year Old Boy

San Antonio Police last night made an arrest in one of the most horrifying crimes in the city in 2017, the murder of three year old Rene Blancas, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

The little boy was riding in the back seat of the family car down a southwest side street on November 4th when he was hit by a bullet fired from another vehicle.

Police Chief Bill McManus says his detectives have been working hard on this case.

"I made a promise to Mrs. Blancas a few months ago that we would make an arrest in this case," McManus said.  "Today we kept our promise."

McManus says Eric Trevino, 23, was arrested on Cupples Road and will face a capital murder charge.

He says Trevino is also facing a long string of felony warrants.

When he was perp walked out of the police station last night, Trevino denied involvement, a comment McManus dismissed as 'rhetoric.'

"We have a lot of information and evidence that would lead us to believe that Eric Trevino was the shooter," he said.
