An injured little girl may have lain in a southeast side street for some time before anybody realized she had been hit by a car, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say the girl was playing in the roadway unsupervised in the 2200 block of Hicks Rd, which is near Highlands High School, well after dark last night when she was hit a car.
The driver of the car failed to stop to help the little girl after hitting her, and sped away. The girl is in critical condition with life threatening injuries.
When the driver is arrested, he or she will face felony charges of Failing to Stop and Render Aid.
No word on potential charges against the girl's parent or guardian, for allowing her to play unsupervised on a busy street after dark.
