A driver has been charged with drunk driving following a grinding three vehicle crash on the near north side this morning that ended with two of the vehicles in the yard of Mark Twain Middle School, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police say a driver who was going south on San Pedro ran a red light at the intersection of San Pedro and West Mulberry about 12:30 this morning, and smashed into a car that was legally crossing the intersections.
Both cars then slammed into a third vehicle. Two of the cars tore through the fence around the school, ending up in the schoolyard.
The drivers of both of the cars that were hit are hospitalized.
The driver of the car that ran the red light was taken into custody for DWI.
