A Bexar County Sheriff's Deputy was arrested today in connection with the assault of a jail inmate in the'summer of 2016, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Deputy Michael Cesar Fernandez is charged with Official Oppression.
He will be placed on unpaid administrative leave until the case is resolved.. Fernandez worked as an adult detention officer.
"I am committed to assisting the Bexar County District Attorney in seeking justice in this case," Sheriff Javier Salazar said.
