Officials: Man Threw Girlfriend's Dog and Cat Out of Upper Story Window

A northwest side man is facing felony animal cruelty charges after police say he reacted to an argument with his girlfriend by throwing the woman's pets out out of an upper story window, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.

Police were called to the Warren Inn Village Apartments at Fredericksburg and Magic, and were told that Fernando Morgan, 46, had thrown a dog and a cat onto the concrete parking lot.

The 6 year old dog, named Ruby, was actually thrown out of the upper story window twice, and was body slammed into a concrete stairway.

Ruby suffered multiple injuries, including a broken pelvis, broken ribs, and two broken legs.  She is being treated at Animal Care Services.

The cat, named Midnight, was less seriously injured.

Midnight has already been adopted from ACS,, and Ruby will be transferred to a private rescue group for treatment after she recovers.
