A smoky fire caused by a welder's torch scrambled more than fifteen fire units to the Grand Hyatt Hotel at the Convention Center downtown this morning, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The fire was quickly extinguished and nobody was hurt, but the fire response prompted the closing of Market and Bowie Streets in front of the Convention Center.
There was no significant fire damage, according to fire officials.
