An off duty Floresville Police Officer who was working as an overnight security guard is hospitalized after a woman went berserk inside the Walmart store at I-10 and Vance Jackson on San Antonio's northwest side and started slashing at people with a knife, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
The officer was slashed in the neck and was rushed to the hospital in serious condition. An employee of the Walmart suffered less serious cutting wounds.
Police say the woman was slashing at fellow customers and employees with a knife.The woman was held by employees and then arrested.
No word on what sparked the rampage, and there is no indication that it was a robbery attempt.
The woman, who police have not been able to positively identify, has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault.
This is the same Walmart where a customer was shot to death in the parking lot on Black Friday of 2016.
