A month after the massacre at the First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick is asking for clarification from Attorney General Ken Paxton on what the state law is for licensed gun holders to carry their weapons into churches, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Patrick points out that a citizen who was licensed to carry a weapon stopped the Sutherland Springs gunman, but he says now is the time for Texans to know exactly what their rights are.
Among the questions Patrick wants Paxton to answer:
May handgun license holders carry their handguns onto the premises of a church that does not post signs excluding guns
Does a measure approved by the Legislature earlier this year waive the 'private security fee' for churches that Texas charges to private institutions.
