Hulu, the California based streaming video company, today held a ribbon cutting at its San Antonio Viewer Experience Operations headquarters in the Medical Center area on the city's northwest side, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
"Every single day that a viewer uses Hulu they gives us some of their time, and we want to make sure they make the most of that time," Hulu Senior Vice President Ben Smith said. "That could be about recommending a new show for them to watch, or helping them with a new device that they bought, or it could simply be helping with a problem."
Hulu's expansion was a hot item among economic development officials nationwide, but Smith said San Antonio's proposal stood out.
"For me what it was was walking around the streets of San Antonio, and seeing just how much pride there is in the City of San Antonio," he said.
"Whether I was sitting at a restaurant or walking on the Riverwalk or I was meeting with somebody from the County or the City, everybody here cares deeply about San Antonio, and I knew that would translate over into our viewer experience."
The center has hired about 300 people since it opened a couple of weeks ago, and plans to ramp up to 500 employees by the middle of next year.
