A 10 year old girl is dead, the victim of another cowardly drive-by shooting at her home, News Radio 1200 WOAI reports.
Police Chief Bill McManus says the victim was watching TV in a bedroom of her family home on Harwood Ave, which is near Basse and West when several shots were fired into the house from the front yard.. The victim was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.. It happened about 7:30 Thanksgiving morning.
"We do think it was gang related," McManus said, saying an older brother of the victim tokd detectives he was most likely the target.
Police say the brother, who is in his late teens, is expected to tell detectives whobwas responsible.
"This is beyond tragic," McManus said.. "Any day is bad, but Thanksgiving makes it worse."
This is the second time this year that blundering gang cowards have killed a child while trying to shoot somebody they consider to be a rival.. In June a four year old boy was shot and killed in a drive by shooting at his home on tge city's east side.
"There will be a special place for this person when he goes to the next life," McManus said
