Man Sleeping on Tracks Run Over by Train

A man was run over by a train this morning, and lived to tell the tale.

Police tell News Radio 1200 WOAI the 30 year old man was sleeping on the railroad tracks that run along Lone Star Blvd near the Blue Star complex south of downtown when the train started coming.

The man woke up and tried to scramble off the tracks, but he didn't move fast enough.

The man was apparently hit by a portion of the locomotive, causing a severe head wound, but he was knocked down to the point where several cars ran above him before the train came to a halt.

He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition. It is not clear why the man was sleeping on the tracks.  It is known that immigrant smuggling gangs will tell illegal immigrants that sleeping between the rails as they make their way into the U.S. will protect them from snakes, but its not known if that was the case in this instance.
