Good news for local retailers as we move into the critical Christmas shopping season.
News Radio 1200 WOAI reports local sales tax collections, which is the best measure of retail activity, are up nearly 4% in San Antonio in October over October of 2016, according to figures released by the State Comptroller's office.
That is a much bigger increase in retail activity than the state as a whole, or in any of the other major cities in Texas.
Analysts credit the city's strong economy, as well as population growth, for continued strength in the local retail industry.
